What is Pizza Palate?

piece of pizza

If you’ve ever taken a bite of pizza as soon as it came out of the oven or arrived at your door, you’ve also probably burned the roof of your mouth. Other hot foods and liquids can burn the roof of your mouth, but nearly all of these burns have come to be called “pizza palate” because they are most commonly caused by pizza. These types of burns typically heal in three to seven days, depending on how severe they are. While your palate is healing, avoid hard, crusty foods and stick to soft foods and cool liquids.

If soreness or blistering lasts longer than seven days, make an appointment with Dr. Charles M. Marks. Located in Manhattan, Dr. Marks and his associates can help with all of your oral care needs. From teeth whitening and cleaning to implants, crowns, and dentures, Dr. Marks and his dental associates do it all. To make an appointment, please call us at (212) 279-1232.
